Reaching the rank of E5, earning the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) his designation was EW2(SW) which stands for Electronic Warfare Technician, Second Class, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualified. Kevin spent four years attached to the USS Saratoga CV-60, a Forrestal class Air Craft Carrier based out of Mayport Naval Station Florida.

Kevin served 6 years Active Duty, 2 years Reserve and was Honorably Discharged in 1991.
