Drought is Officially Over Declares Governor Brown On April 7, Governor Brown signed an executive order and declared the drought officially over for all counties with the exception of Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Tuolumne counties. However, many of the existing emergency regulations which prohibit wasteful practices will be kept in force such as: • Hosing off sidewalks, driveways and other hardscapes; • Washing automobiles with hoses not equipped with a shut-off nozzle; • Using non-recirculated water in a fountain or other decorative water feature; • Watering lawns in a manner that causes runoff, orwithin 48 hours after measurable precipitation; and • Irrigating ornamental turf on public street medians. Despite the declaration, the Governor also made clear that many of the longer term water conservation efforts will continue such as new water efficiency targets in urban use, both indoor and outdoor, as well as performance measures for commercial, industrial and institutional water use, among other efforts.
